Project Overview
This 72,000-square-foot advanced, purpose-built facility in Tucson, Arizona is home to the Western Archaeological Conservation Center (WACC). A division of the National Park Service, staff here provide curation and record-keeping for 14.5 million objects and archives – the demands of which require a technically advanced facility that meets or exceeds standards established by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). Enhanced air conditioning and humidification – controlled by a state-of-the-art BAS – provides precision RH control and temperature control of plus/minus 1-degree. The exterior of the building is constructed of tilt-up, pre-cast concrete walls, and the roof structure is pre-cast concrete topped with 3-inches of cast-in-place concrete. The building complies with blast resistance criteria established by the Justice Department for a Level III facility and is certified compliant with all seismic design codes. At QGC we are proud to partner with the WACC to provide a safe and secure home to this valuable and irreplaceable piece of America’s great heritage.
